Background
About Me
I grew up in Boston, but since university, where I studied English and Sociology, I have lived in Baltimore, Thailand, Istanbul, and London. My travel has informed my writing and my worldview, and I take pride in my ability to synthesize complex topics into digestible pieces that are well-researched and well-written.
I currently write for SOUR, an architecture and design studio, where I focus on the intersection of design and sustainability. I also contribute regularly to Fictive Magazine and Insights of and Eco Artist.
I want to stay as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can't see from the center.
There is a saying I've become very familiar with while writing about design, which basically says that by designing for the people on the edge - the marginalized or disabled or overlooked - then the design becomes that much better for everyone.
The same is true for just about everything else too, I think. As a writer, it's crucial to approach your topic from this perspective. Push limits but stay poised. Maintain perspective while peering into obscurity. Seek out truth in a Great Pacific Garbage Patch of information.
